Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a small, little town that is a bit sleepy. Many people who don't know they mistakenly believe the West Island extends westward from Montreal. Actually this is not the case. West Island includes everything westward from Lachine. Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. However, it's not the case. Brugel grew to be a young woman in Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become a dancer. Then, a growth increase caused her to surpass her dance partners she had. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. After I became too big for my male partners I stopped. Some former dancers switch to acting, and in Brugel's case it was a nudge from an instructor in drama at high school who pushed her in the right direction. It was her teacher who encouraged her to try out to play the character of Anne for their school's annual production. The teacher who suggested she pursue a part the school's annual production. The show led her to receive an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years that followed, Brugel has landed roles in more than 60 productions across the big and small screens. She attracted the most attention when she landed the character in the role of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character Rita in The Handmaid's Tale which was produced over the course of ten years.
